Idaho Botanical Garden - (208) 343-8649

I was prepared to be dissapointed as we walked up to the Gardens. It seemed small, and too spread out. However, once we actually entered the Gardens, I realized it kept creeping up the hills. It was much larger than I originally though, and every bit as beautiful as a Garden should be. I've been to Botanical Gardens in Washington DC and Alaska, and the Idaho Botanical Gardens win for sure. Stunning plants, layouts, ponds, fountains....everything!

The Idaho Botanical Garden is a great place to visit whether you are a tourist or a local. The garden is located at the base of the foothills near Table Rock, so you can easily add an afternoon of hiking. There are a lot of native plants to see as well as a xeroscaped garden. The garden also hosts several events throughout the year including the Mad Hatter's Tea Party and The Holiday Lights Festival. An interesting alternative to the many area parks.

The first time I went to the Botanical Garden in Boise I was with my daughter on a school field trip, trying to navigate 1st graders through flowers without them picking them was not too much fun but I was impressed that they do handle so many school field trips to teach the children about the beauty of their place. I have since been back when just my wife and I visited and we were able to slowly walk through, we also attended during the holiday season and though I am just your average guy I thought it was quite spetacular in all the lights and colors. They outdo themselves each time I go and the employees are very educated if you have a question. High recommended!!
