South Middle School Reviews

I am a student at SMS and I very much enjoy what the school has to offer. The teachers are great and very experienced, so you know whatever you're learning is probably correct. I also feel safe there; the dean and principal make the school a very comfortable environment to learn and not worry about any sorts of dangers. They have a plan for absolutely everything there, from tragedies to academics, from academics to sports. I feel comfortable at South and I am very pleased with how much I've learned. Another quick note, the dean does a very good job with discipline. The school is not afraid to suspend students if something has gone on.

This school is awful! My child just found out that South Middle School does not recognize Honor Roll status throughout the year.At the end of the year, one time, names are put into the newspaper. Sports proficiency is awarded throughout the year with award ceremonies. Where does that signal that the priority is. Communication is lacking as well. Half of the bathrooms have miniscule water pressue as well-don't count on being able to wash your hands after using the restrooms. We asked to have this addressed, and it wasn't. If you read the paper, you will see that South is building new tennis courts at this moment. Once again, academics is not at the top of the list.

I dislike most of the teachers some of them are jerks and make students cry and I think south should get more sports privlages like baseball, martial arts and sports that have great intrest. Also south should get to be in a program with 4-H because my daughter and a lot of her friends would be greatly interested in that.

I like the school and the staff a few of the teachers are not what i think meets expectations and they need to inform parents when there are are problems or changes with the child and his/her behavior or education.

I worked here and was deeply disappointed in the racism against students as well as the utter lack of assistance for struggling students or those in crisis.

I am a happy student at South. The teachers are nice and they have cool classes. However if you take orchestra or Choir or band you do not get to take P.E. or Computers. you also waste a whole period with advisory where you could be doing P.E. or Computers.

I have 2 children at South Middle School, and I feel that the teachers are doing a great job with them. Every child needs a parent to stand beside them and encourage her/him to stand behind the teacher and support his/her projection for your child. The teachers often spend extra time with that child that needs more support. And the parent feedback is great. Hats off to the teachers there this year for a job well done with all the new kids in the district. They've had to spend more hours grading and planning for the year.

My daughter attended this school for two years, and had wonderful academic progress during the entire two-year period. The classes were both interesting and yet challenging for her. The communication between my daughter and her teachers and her teachers and myself was excellent. If I had any questions, I was always free to meet with her teachers to get the questions answered. I had occasion to meet with the vice principal who was very concerned with the problem I approached him about, and he took immediate action. The staff was friendly and helpful in any manner they could be. All in all, it was a terrific experience and South Middle School more than prepared my daughter for high school.

I am not impressed with the teachers! Not all kids are the same and speacial attention needs to be made to address everyone not the teachers sterotype. Also they have a no tolerance program which needs alot of help my child was bullied severley and it was never taken care of properly! A concern with any school really so parents please be aware.

I think this school was not very good I felt like I was not learning anything. The teachers were not very good. The teachers are more worried about their paychecks than the students. If I had to go back to this school I would rather stop my education.
